CHANGES TO BOOKING FOOTBALL TRIPS

Whether you follow Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, the way you book your trips has changed. Here’s everything you need to know.

Why has the booking process changed?

We’ve known for some time that booking our football trips has been a bit fiddly and part of this was down to the old website which caused issues for us and you, particularly when trips first go on sale.

As demand has grown, we’ve experienced more technical issues throughout the booking process, mostly when there’s a scramble for a limited number of spaces, and this has also caused panic or stress for some supporters trying to book and fill out forms.

How will booking be easier?

What we’re about to tell you, we strongly encourage you to do right now and not wait until the next trip goes on sale as it will delay you booking. This also applies if you have already booked upcoming trips.

Everyone who books a trip with us – not just the lead booker – needs to create an account on the website and it doesn’t take long.

You’ll need to provide the details which you usually give every time you book – passport and contact details etc – and then they’ll be saved on your account.

Once you’ve filled in those details, you’ll get a Wonky Sheep ID which you’ll be able to find every time you log in.

What’s the benefit of having an account?

Once you’ve created your account, that’s the last time you’ll have to upload your details except when you have to do updates such as a new passport or change of number/email address. You’ll also be able to see your booking history and make payments (more on that later).

It will also allow us to send messages to your account if there is an update on a trip you’re booked on and you’ll get a notification.

Why is the Wonky Sheep ID important?

This is how we’re making life easier for the lead booker. They will be able to add other supporters in their booking by linking their Wonky Sheep ID when booking which will make it much quicker. So they won’t have any other details to gather. They’d just need to input the Wonky Sheep ID.

What if someone hasn’t got an account at the time of booking?

They will need to create an account there and then but this will obviously cause a delay which is why we’re encouraging people to create accounts as soon as possible.

Has anything else changed when you book?

Yes, and again this is aimed at making the process smoother.

The new system will show live availability, so you’ll know exactly what is and isn’t available at the time of booking as well as being able to see what booking stage you’re on.

With availability for example, if you wanted a triple room and there aren’t any left or if twin rooms have sold out, it would tell you that you need to choose another option.

Also, if you’re booking more than one room and you wanted 1 x double and 1 x twin for example, you now will be able to select one of each (subject to availability) instead of writing your request in the additional information box like you needed to do with the old website.

More payment options

Up until now, we’ve had the system of paying a deposit in order to book and final payment at the deadline date. When you book now, you can either pay with a deposit or pay in full. If you choose to pay with a deposit, you’ll then be able to log into your account at any point up to the final payment deadline to pay the rest off – either your whole booking or if just one supporter in your group wanted to pay early they can do that too.

So how do I create my account?

  1. Click “My account” at the top (ignore if the next page says “thanks for registering and you’ve been sent an email” it’s a temporary glitch – You need to click “register”. Once you’ve registered, then you’ll get an email with a link you need to click to confirm your account. Check your junk/spam folder if you don’t get it.
  2. Once confirmed, you create your account by filling in the details as requested. It’s the same as when you booked a trip previously.
  3. Only once you’ve filled in all boxes and pressed save, will the red warning box change and you’ll see your Wonky Sheep ID. Make a note of this.
  4. When other supporters you travel will have created their IDs, you’ll see at the bottom of your Manage Account page “My friends”. Put the other person’s ID in that box and click ADD. This means when you are booking a trip, their name will be available to select as part of your group when you book a trip
  5. That’s it, you’re done.
